Trump demands 'unconditional surrender' of Iran
by Benjamin Chiou · ShareCastDonald Trump has called for the "unconditional surrender" of Iran, effectively ruling out a deal with Tehran, as fighting with US-Israeli forces enters its seventh day.
"There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!" the US president wrote on Truth Social on Friday.
Washington is still waiting on Iran to choose a replacement for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed by a joint US-Israeli airstrike on 28 February, marking the start of the conflict.
The assassination prompted rapid retaliatory attacks by Iran on Israeli-US allies across the Gulf.
"After [surrender], and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before," Trump said.
"IRAN WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE. “MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!).”
Fighting continued on Friday with the Israel Defense Forces claiming to have used 50 Israeli fighter jets to destroy an Iranian military command bunker in Tehran. The bunker is thought to be the "secure emergency command centre" of former leader Khamenei, housing many senior officials, spanning multiple streets in the centre of the capital.
