Google’s latest earnings report featured a detailed breakdown of the company’s recent financial performance, including some interesting tidbits about its investments. This included $98 billion thanks to major investments into Claude creator Anthropic and Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

In Google’s Q2 2026 earnings report, the company states, “Other income reflected a net gain of $98.0 billion, primarily the result of net unrealized gains on our equity securities.” While Google neglected to get into specifics in its report, CNBC reported that this lump of money came from Google's SpaceX and Anthropic investments.

This number stands in stark contrast to the $1.29 billion in “other investments” that Google reported in the previous year. Anthropic has grown in popularity thanks to its Claude AI model, and SpaceX recently went public.

These investments were major profit drivers in a quarter that saw Google report $119.796 billion in revenue. Elon Musk’s Tesla also reported its quarterly earnings this afternoon.
