Pokemon GO: Forever Forward season debuts Mega Raichu X & Y

Ahead of this year's Pokemon GO Fest, Pikachu's two Mega Evolutions are coming to Niantic's mobile game.

An increasing number of Mega Evolutions have been making their way into Pokemon GO. However, there have been a few noteworthy omissions up to this point. Mewtwo's Mega Evolutions are on their way for the upcoming Pokemon GO Fest. On Monday, Niantic and The Pokemon Company announced that Raichu's new Mega Evolutions will also make their debut as part of the next Pokemon GO season, titled Forever Forward.

As part of Forever Forward, look for Mega Raichu X, Mega Raichu Y, and Mega Skarmory to be part of Mega Raid Days. Join up with other trainers to take on these Mega Pokemon in order defeat them and earn enough Mega Energy to trigger their Mega Evolutions at any time of day. Keep in mind, as thousands of people learned during this year's Pokemon GO Tour - Kalos: Mega Nights, these more powerful Mega Evolutions are not easy to take down.

Mega Raichu X & Y were first revealed as part of the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC. They both remain pure Electric-types, with Mega Raichu X sporting more balanced stats while Mega Raichu Y gets amplified special attack and speed stats.

Look for the Pokemon GO: Forever Forward season to begin on Tuesday, June 2 and continue through Tuesday, September 8. More information can be found on the Pokemon GO website. Pokemon GO Fest, meanwhile, kicks off this weekend (May 29-June 1) in Tokyo, Japan. From June 5-7, GO Fest goes to Chicago, IL, and heads over to Copenhagen, Denmark from June 12-14. Finally, everyone will get a chance to take part in the fun during Pokemon GO Fest 2026: Global from July 11-12.
