by Donovan Erskine · ShacknewsNetflix is adding another video game adaptation with PUBG, a series based on the influential battle royale game. It’s being written and produced by Donald Glover, who’s also expected to star in the show.
Variety reported Netflix’s plans to develop a PUBG show. Originally released as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in 2017, PUBG is a 100-players fighting to be the last one alive as the map slowly contracts around them. It’s responsible for kicking off the battle royale trend that spawned games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Warzone.
Donald Glover’s work includes Community, Atlanta, and the television adaptation of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. He’ll produce the show alongside his brother, Stephen Glover.
The PUBG series will be co-produced by Krafton, the game’s publisher, through its entertainment division. Other game adaptations at Netflix include Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, as well as upcoming shows based on Persona and Assassin’s Creed.
