She was known primarily for her Hollywood roles, but actress Hayden Panettiere will also be remembered for some standout performances in gaming.

Tragedy struck on Sunday when it was announced Hollywood actress Hayden Panettiere had passed away at the young age of 36. Panettiere was known primarily for her work in movies and television, but she also had an impact in the gaming world for her work on the first two Kingdom Hearts games, as well as the PlayStation first-party standout Until Dawn.

TMZ has been updating the story of Panettiere's sudden passing throughout Sunday. While there is no official cause of death, the online outlet noted late in the evening that police had responded to an incident earlier in the day. No further details are available at this time.

Panettiere will be remembered largely for her work on NBC's Heroes, the breakout 2006 action sci-fi series about ordinary people discovering that they had superpowers. More recently, Panettiere had been part of the Scream franchise, having appeared in Scream 4 and Scream 6. In the gaming world, Panettiere played a pivotal role in the first two Kingdom Hearts titles, where she played Kairi, one of the series' main characters, until she was eventually replaced by Alyson Stoner. Panettiere also left a lasting impression as one of the faces of Until Dawn, the ambitious 2015 PlayStation 4 horror game from PlayStation and Supermassive Games. Panettiere was seen all across the game's promotional material all the way through its release.

Hayden Panettiere is survived by her daughter, Kaya, whom she had with former partner Wladimir Klitschko. Condolences to her family and may she rest in peace.
