A woman was killed and at least 20 others were injured late Motzei Shabbos after an Iranian missile barrage struck central Israel, directly hitting residential buildings in Tel Aviv.

The attack came hours after Israel and the United States carried out coordinated strikes on Iranian targets early Saturday morning, setting off a sharp escalation across the region. In response, Iran launched a series of ballistic missile barrages toward multiple countries in the Middle East.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., missiles were fired toward Israel, with one projectile striking an apartment building in Tel Aviv. According to Magen David Adom, a woman in her 40s who sustained critical injuries was pronounced dead at the scene despite extensive resuscitation efforts by paramedics.

Emergency teams treated and evacuated 20 injured victims to Ichilov Hospital. Among them was a man in his 40s listed in serious condition with shrapnel wounds and a man in his 30s in moderate condition, also suffering from shrapnel injuries. A woman in her 90s was moderately injured from the blast impact, while 17 additional victims sustained light injuries. Medics reported that searches were continuing for further casualties.

MDA paramedic Uri Garbi described the devastation. “From the first moment, it was clear this was a severe scene. We saw thick black smoke rising from a residential building with major destruction, vehicles on fire, and widespread chaos,” he said. “We immediately set up a casualty treatment point nearby and began providing medical care. Together with Home Front Command, fire and rescue services, and police, we are continuing to search for additional victims.”

Police confirmed direct hits on two separate buildings in the city. The Tel Aviv District Police Commander said emergency crews had rescued five people from one of the impacted structures, adding that rescue operations were still underway.

Military officials estimated that approximately 16 missiles were launched in the barrage, including eight directed at Israel and others toward the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Jordan.

The IDF reiterated its urgent call for civilians to strictly follow Home Front Command instructions and immediately enter protected spaces when sirens sound.

Authorities remain on high alert amid continued regional tensions.
