Police to arrest controversial musician in probe into Taiwanese influencer’s death
by Bernama · Borneo Post OnlineKUALA LUMPUR (Nov 4): Police will detain a controversial musician to assist in investigations into the death of a Taiwanese female influencer who was found dead at a hotel here last month.
Kuala Lumpur Police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the case, which was initially classified as a sudden death, has now been reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code following further investigation.
“The musician was the last person to be with the victim and is now considered an important individual in the investigation. We do not rule out the possibility of detaining him soon,” he told reporters today.
He said all aspects of the case are being examined, including the victim’s movements since her arrival in Malaysia on Oct 20.
“The investigation is being conducted thoroughly, including recording statements from hotel staff and security personnel, as well as reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage,” he said, adding that police are still awaiting the post-mortem and toxicology reports to determine the exact cause of death.
It was reported that the body of the Taiwanese influencer was found by the musician in a hotel bathtub at about 1.40 pm on Oct 22.
The musician was later arrested for allegedly possessing and using drugs.
During a raid at about 4.30 pm the same day, police seized nine blue pills believed to be ecstasy, weighing approximately 5.12 grammes.
He was subsequently charged in the Kuala Lumpur Court on Oct 24. – Bernama
