Beyoncé Releases Beautiful Tribute to “Bold and Brilliant” Dolly Parton

Beyoncé has joined the chorus of celebrities honoring late country singer Dolly Parton, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer.

In a letter addressed to Dolly published on her website, Bey wrote, “Doll, You were the barometer. The North Star. Bold and brilliant. Talented and tenacious. You taught so many lessons on how to be uniquely oneself. I am grateful for your art, your heart, your generosity, your humor, your entrepreneurship.”

She added, “I’m honored that I had the privilege to work with you. I will treasure that forever. Thank you for your profound impact on the world. You are an angel who has made this world a happier place because of your joyful art. You are truly one of one. Rest peacefully.”

Dolly’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced her passing via Instagram video on Tuesday, August 25, a task he explained that she’d asked him to take on several years prior. “This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality,” he said. “As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment, but haven’t truly felt it until now,.”

“My family and I have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly, but so have you. She has always been on your television, your record player, your CD, and on your phone playlist, becoming an extended part of your family whether you liked it or not,” he shared, concluding his emotional message with, “She will always love you.”
