When 'Project Hail Mary' Will Be Available to Stream and How to Watch

How can I watch Project Hail Mary?

Why is Ryan Gosling friends with a rock? Didn’t Elmo warn against this? What does Harry Styles have to do with this movie? Those are the questions that Ihave about Project Hail Mary, the new space adventure movie from Christopher Lord and Phil Miller that’s out this weekend. If your questions are more straightforward, like “how do I watch Project Hail Mary” and “where is it streaming,” however, don’t worry! We can answer those questions.

Gosling plays Ryland Grace, a schoolteacher and former scientist who gets coerced into space travel in order to save the planet from a dying sun. It is very much a last ditch effort, a.k.a. a hail Mary.

Project Hail Mary was released on March 20, 2026 and is exclusively in theaters for the time being. Not gonna lie, space movies tend to be about 1000x more fun in the cinema. Project Hail Mary was shot in IMAX, as well, which I’m willing to bet you cannot recreate in your living room. It’s also going to be a popular 4DX movie at Regal Cinemas so you can smell and feel space in addition to hearing and seeing it. (I always opt out of getting sprayed with water when I see a 4DX movie, but that’s just me.)

Where will Project Hail Mary be streaming?

Amazon MGM Studios is distributing the film in the United States and Canada. There’s your answer right there. Prime Video is the place to be for Project Hail Mary!

Well, when will Project Hail Mary be streaming?

The average movie theater-to-streaming waiting period these days seems to be about three months. That would mean we get Project Hail Mary on (almost definitely) Prime Video in the middle of June-ish 2026.

However, it might actually be sooner. Let’s use The Accountant 2 as an example. That is an Amazon MGM Studios film from last year that was released exclusively in theaters on April 25, 2025. It was added to Prime Video on June 05, 2025– significantly less than two months later, let alone three! I guess it’s not surprising that Amazon, of all places, wants you to stay home while they bring things to you. That is kind of their whole deal.

What should I do while I wait?

The Martian, another movie about a guy in space based on a book by Andy Weir, is streaming on Amazon now. Matt Damon stars in that one with an ensemble cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, and more. Don’t let anyone who’s still salty that it won the Golden Globe for Best Musical/Comedy tell you that The Martian isn’t funny. Donald Glover’s character plugs his laptop into a NASA supercomputer with, like, an extension cord. That’s hilarious.

Speaking of the book, you could always read Project Hail Mary before streaming the film. I would also recommend the movie Sunshine, directed by Danny Boyle and starring Chris Evans, Cillian Murphy, Rose Byrne, and Michelle Yeoh. It’s another movie about a dying sun but very emo.
