Sexual harassment case: A South Korean woman was sexually harassed during a routine security check at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru.

The incident took place on January 19, when the woman had arrived at the airport to travel back to South Korea, according to news agency ANI.
Based on her complaint, the Kempegowda Airport (KIAL) police arrested the accused and registered a criminal case. Police officials said an investigation is currently underway.
Incident during security check
According to the police, the incident occurred during ticket inspection and security screening. The airport staffer allegedly told the woman that a beeping sound was coming from her bag. On this pretext, he asked her to undergo a separate check.
The accused then took the woman to a men’s toilet area, claiming it was part of the inspection process. Police said that during this time, the staffer touched her inappropriately under the pretext of conducting a security check.
Woman raised objection
The South Korean national reportedly strongly objected to the staffer’s actions. Despite her protest, the accused allegedly continued the search. Police said the staffer touched her private parts and forcibly hugged her during the incident.
After the alleged assault, the accused reportedly said, “Okay, thank you,” and walked away from the spot.

Complaint and immediate action
Following the incident, the woman approached airport security staff and lodged a complaint. Acting swiftly, the security personnel detained the accused and informed the KIAL Airport police.
Police officials said that CCTV footage from the airport confirmed the sequence of events described in the complaint. Based on the evidence, the accused was taken into custody.
Case registered under BNS
The Kempegowda Airport Police registered a case under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual harassment. The accused has been formally arrested.
Police said further investigation is ongoing to gather more details and complete legal procedures. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken as per the law.
