A Patna district court on Tuesday granted interim protection to educator Faisal Khan, famously known as Khan Sir, by staying his arrest, in connection with a case linked to a firing incident at his coaching institute earlier this month.

The relief was granted during the hearing of Khan Sir's anticipatory bail petition before the District Judge’s court. The court said that investigators may continue to question him in connection with the case, but no coercive measures, including arrest or other punitive action, can be taken against him while the interim protection remains in effect.

The case originates from a firing incident at a coaching centre in Patna on June 2, after which an FIR was registered at the Kadamkuan police station. The police action was reportedly triggered by a video of the incident that circulated widely on social media.

According to the police, two security guards associated with the coaching institute have already been arrested and are currently in judicial custody. Investigators have claimed that the guards confessed to firing the shots.

During previous hearings, the court had instructed the police to submit the case diary along with the evidence gathered during the investigation.

Arguments on Khan’s anticipatory bail plea were heard before the District Judge, with his lawyer seeking protection from arrest while the investigation is underway.

The court has also reserved its decision on the anticipatory bail application of Roshan Anand, another accused in the case.

Earlier on Sunday, teachers and student leaders of Gyan Bindu GS Academy demanded the immediate release of Director Raushan Anand, calling his arrest baseless, while questioning why Khan Sir has not faced similar action.

Speaking to ANI, Shashank Pathak, a history teacher said, "All the reasons cited for Raushan Anand Sir's arrest have proven to be baseless, and the administration is well aware of this; yet, he remains in custody. The grounds for his arrest are completely unfounded. We demand his immediate release; if Raushan Sir is not released, we will go on a hunger strike."

Raushan Anand, Director of Gyan Bindu GS Academy, and two associates, Abhishek and Gaurav, was sent to judicial custody by the Patna Civil Court on June 3.

Earlier, Anand claimed, "There is a conspiracy against us. After the success of the Bihar police exam results, they are trying to trap us. Kisan cold storage owners and Khan Sir together are attempting to ruin Gyan Bindu."

The firing incident prompted a police probe into allegations that the shooting was planned from within the coaching institute. Khan has denied any involvement in the matter and moved the court seeking protection from arrest.
