The film — now shooting in Finland — follows a dysfunctional couple (Segel and Weaving) who head to a remote cabin to supposedly reconnect, but each has secret plans to kill the other.

The script was adapted by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney from Wirkola’s Norwegian thriller, “I Onde Dager,” which starred Noomi Rapace and Aksel Hennie, and was written by Wirkola, John Niven, and Nick Ball. “I Onde Dager” was produced by Jørgen Storm Rosenberg and Kjetil Omberg for 74 Entertainment and financed by XYZ in conjunction with IPR.VC. Rosenberg and Omberg are also serving as executive producers on “The Trip.”

“I can’t wait to see Jorma bring his totally singular sensibility to the material,” said Wirkola. “That, combined with this killer cast, makes me beyond excited that this film will truly stand out in the cinematic landscape.”

Added Taccone: “I’m a huge fan of Tommy’s work and I love the original film. I have a totally singular sensibility, and I can’t wait to see what I bring to the material.”

Filming for “The Trip” is taking place in Tampere, Finland, with the film receiving production incentives from Business Finland, The City of Tampere and Film Tampere. Films Films Films is providing production services.
