Joe Jonas, who plays Shane Gray, posted a video from the set of new film on Wednesday. As crew members are heard working in the background, he walks through Camp Rock while wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses, saying, “I’m Shane Gray, for crying out loud” — a line from a fan-favorite scene in the first “Camp Rock” movie. “close enough, welcome back shane gray,” he wrote in the caption. In another clip posted by an official Jonas Brothers account and captioned “good morning campers,” Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas lip sync to the full scene. In 2008’s “Camp Rock,” the Jonas Brothers played Connect 3, a popular boy band made up of three teenage brothers — not unlike themselves at the time. The brothers return to the music camp that launched their careers to generate good press for Shane, who has garnered a reputation for bad behavior. There, he meets and befriends Mitchie, a girl from a low-income family who attends the camp on a scholarship who struggles to fit in with the wealthy campers. “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” premiered in 2010. In the sequel, Camp Rock is at risk of being shut down after the opening of a competing camp. Both movies are among the top 10 most-watched Disney Channel original movies of all time and were the top cable movie among viewers age 2-17 in the years they premiered.
“Camp Rock 3” is directed by Veronica Rodriguez and written by Eydie Faye (“Slumber Party”) with choreography by Jamal Sims. Disney Branded Television produces. Alongside the Jonas Brothers and Lovato, executive producers include Tim Federle, Betsy Sullenger, Spencer Berman and Gary Marsh.
“‘Camp Rock’ is an important part of the Disney Channel Original Movie legacy, with unforgettable music, energetic storytelling and characters that live in the hearts of fans to this day,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, in a statement. “Bringing it back with Kevin, Joe, Nick and Demi is such a full-circle moment, and we can’t wait to reintroduce this world to a new generation.”
