‘The Gentlemen’ Officially Renewed for Season 3 as First Season 2 Trailer Drops: ‘I’m Looking Forward to Pushing the Boundaries Further,’ Guy Ritchie Says (EXCLUSIVE)

“The Gentlemen” has officially been greenlit for Season 3, Variety can confirm.

Guy Ritchie’s high-society, high-octane caper starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario is set to return for a third outing, comprised of eight episodes. Variety understands that while the new season is in pre-production no scripts have yet been finalized, let alone new casting, despite rumors of Meghan Markle joining. The show is due to go into production imminently.

“The ambition of ‘The Gentlemen’ has accelerated, the world has expanded and the consequences carry weight,” says creator, writer, director and executive producer Guy Ritchie. “A third season felt inevitable, and I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further.”

Ritchie will also be returning to direct Season 3, which he co-writes with Matthew Read.

The news of the third season comes amid a host of returning season orders for some of Netflix’s top U.K. shows including “Black Mirror” Season 8, “Legends” Season 2 and “Being Gordon Ramsay” Season 2. Other highly anticipated Netflix U.K. dramas returning for a second season are “Supacell,” “Black Doves” and “House of Guinness.”

The streamer today also released its first full-length trailer for “The Gentlemen” Season 2, ahead of its launch on Sept. 3.

Season 2 will see Eddie Horniman (James) and Susie Glass (Scodelario) grow their business internationally as they take to the lakeside villas of Italy where at least one of their crew finds out he’s bitten off more than he can chew.

Meanwhile Eddie’s rise through the criminal underworld is mirrored by his rise through the British establishment, bringing him into the circle of a new oleaginous aristo played by Hugh Bonneville, who is joining the cast.

In the trailer, Eddie hints at his growing ambitions, as he tells Geoff of his stately pile: “Four hundred years ago, this estate spread out as far as the eye could see. I want it all back.”

With American billionaire Stanley Johnston (Giancarlo Esposito) whispering in his hear (“You are destined to rule, forge your own path”) Eddie’s confidence in his ability to play high-stakes games with notorious crime lords soars ever higher — but at what cost?

Season 2 sees Ray Winstone returning as Glass’s kingpin father Bobby while Harry Goodwins returns as her brawny brother Jack.

On the Duke’s side, Joely Richardson is back as Eddie’s mother Lady Sabrina, Daniel Ings as disinherited older brother Freddy, Jasmine Blackborow as sister Charly and Vinnie Jones as Geoff, keeper of the grounds – and family secrets.

Also returning for Season 2 are Esposito, Michael Vu, Ruby Sear and Pearce Quigley.

Joining the cast this season are Benjamin Clementine (“Dune”), Benedetta Porcaroli (“The Leopard”), Amra Mallassi (“Dune: Part Two”), Tyler Conti (“Tell Me Everything”), professional boxer Chris Eubank Jr and “Love Island U.K.” host Maya Jama.
