In 1995, “Se7en” not only redeemed Fincher’s reputation as a director but marked him as a skilled and meticulous technician and visualist. He subsequently helmed “The Game” (1997), “Fight Club” (1999), “Zodiac” (2007), “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” (2008), “The Social Network” (2010), “Gone Girl” (2014), “Mank” (2020) and “The Killer” (2023). Fincher has been nominated three times at the Academy Awards for best director (2009, 2011 and 2021) but has never won in the category.
The 4K restoration of “Se7en” was completed at Warner Bros. Discovery’s Motion Picture Imaging and sourced from the original camera negative. The restoration was overseen by Fincher. Audiences can experience the film in Imax for the first time for a limited engagement starting January 3, 2025.
