‘Remain’ Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor Are a Creepy Couple in M. Night Shyamalan’s Latest Twisty Thriller
by Tanya Fedak · VarietyThis Valentine’s Day, be prepared to trust the unknown.
M. Night Shyamalan’s romantic drama “Remain” released its first trailer, showing Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor in an unsettling relationship.
The trailer opens with a montage of the happiest moments shared by young couple Wren (Dynevor) and Tate (Gyllenhaal), portraying the film as a seemingly lighthearted romantic comedy. But the tone suddenly shifts when Wren starts to cry while asking, “Why can’t we be together, Tate?” “I think you know,” he whispers back. In the moments that follow, Wren seems to be preparing to slam her head against a bathroom wall before disappearing right in front of Tate.
