Viral SPM Student in ‘Zombie-like’ State Allegedly High on ‘Piu Piu’ Tests Positive for 3 Types of Drugs in Nilai

The Negeri Sembilan Education Department is looking into a viral incident involving an alleged Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) student who was reportedly under the influence of a substance known as ‘piu piu’.

We previously reported that a video of the incident showed a teenage boy hunched over with his head lowered, appearing almost motionless.

SPM student tests positive for three types of drugs

Following the video’s circulation on social media, Negeri Sembilan police launched an investigation and identified the Form 5 student involved.

According to Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, the student was subsequently detained for further action and underwent an initial urine screening test, which returned positive results for three types of drugs.

“Negeri Sembilan police are aware of a video that has been circulating on Threads since yesterday (4 November), showing a school student suspected of being in a dazed state after using a vape.
“Following the video’s circulation, police have conducted an investigation and identified the student involved,” the statement read.

“The public is urged not to speculate”

Alzafny said the incident was believed to have taken place at a secondary school in Nilai on 28 October, adding that a police report had also been lodged over the matter.

An initial urine screening test found that the student had tested positive for ketamine, benzodiazepines (benzos) and THC. However, the results are still subject to further confirmation.

He added that the student would be referred to the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) for further action under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.

Alzafny also urged the public not to speculate about the incident, as this could affect investigations, and to cooperate with the authorities in addressing drug abuse.
