PDRM Hunting Down Owners of 3 Cars for Dangerously Blocking Entire Highway & Stopping Traffic
by Didi · WORLD OF BUZZPolice are on the hunt for the owners of three cars seen blocking traffic on the southbound North-South Expressway near the Pedas-Linggi Rest and Service Area (R&R).
Rembau District Police Chief, Superintendent Hasani Hussain, said the case is being investigated under multiple legal provisions, including Section 279 and Section 341 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 48 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“It could lead to deadly accidents”
Hasani emphasised that police take any actions disrupting traffic flow very seriously, according to Sinar Harian.
“Blocking the road puts other drivers at risk, especially on highways where vehicles travel at high speeds. It’s not just illegal, but it could easily lead to deadly accidents,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless or dangerous driving that endangers other road users. If convicted, offenders face up to six months in jail, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.
The suspects could face a possible license suspension
The case is also being investigated under Section 341 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public pathway, which carries a maximum sentence of one month in jail, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both upon conviction.
Additionally, Hasani said the suspects may face action under Section 48 of the Road Transport Act 1987, which provides for a fine between RM1,000 and RM5,000 and the possibility of a driving licence suspension of up to 12 months if found guilty of operating a vehicle in a manner that inconveniences other road users.
