PMX Reveals Details of Recent Talks with Putin Regarding Russia’s Involvement in MH17 Downing

by · WORLD OF BUZZ

Recently, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) under the United Nations (UN) ruled that Russia is responsible for the downing of MH17, which killed 298 people.

Following this, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) decided to raise this issue during a meeting with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, today (May 15) while he is on an official visit to Russia.

According to a report by Harian Metro, DSAI raised the matter during his bilateral talks with the Russian President at the Kremlin, on behalf of the families of the victims of the incident.

“Of course, I, as a representative of the Malaysian people, especially the families of the victims, took the opportunity to raise the issue with President Vladimir Putin during the bilateral talks,” he said.

How did the Russian President respond?

DSAI said that the Russian President stressed that he demanded a thorough and comprehensive investigation to be carried out and requested that this issue not be politicised.

He added that Putin shared that Moscow had requested that the investigation into the matter be independent and thorough, and stressed that Russia was ready to cooperate to ensure that the report is more credible.

“All I can confirm is that he said it was not true that he is not ready to cooperate, but he does not want to cooperate with anybody that he or Russia considers not to be independent,” DSAI explained.
