Child dies following road traffic incident in Co Donegal
· RTE.ieA child has died and several people have been injured in a road traffic incident in Co Donegal.
Gardaí were alerted to a road traffic incident between a car and a van that occurred on the R240 at Glentogher, Carndonagh in Co Donegal shortly after 6.30pm.
A young girl was fatally injured.
The driver of the car, a front seat passenger and a child who was a back seat passenger were all removed from the scene to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry. They all remain in a serious condition.
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
The road is currently closed for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
The road remained closed overnight.
Gardaí have issued an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have footage of the incident to contact them.
