Status Yellow rain warning issued for five counties

Met Éireann has issued a 12-hour Status Yellow rain warning for five counties.

Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo will be on yellow alert from 9pm tonight until 9am tomorrow morning.

The forecaster has warned of a spell of heavy rain, with thunderstorms possible.

It said the heavy rain could potentially cause localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and lightning damage.

A separate rain warning will come into effect for Cork and Kerry tomorrow morning.

The Status Yellow alert will come into effect at 9am and remain in place until 9pm tomorrow night.

Met Éireann said there will be a spell of persistent rain, turning heavy at times.

Potential impacts include localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and iutdoor events impacted.
