Cyclist dies after being struck by van in Co Clare

A cyclist has died after he was struck by a van in Co Clare yesterday evening.

The crash occurred on the N67 at Baunmore in Kilrush at around 8pm.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's body was brought to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem will take place.

The driver of the van was uninjured, gardaí said.

The road remains closed with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been travelling in the area of Baunmore, Kilrush between 7.15pm and 8.15pm yesterday evening, and who may have camera footage, including dashcam or mobile phone recordings, to make the footage available to them.
