Man, 30s, arrested in Waterford death investigation

A man in his 30s has been arrested as part of the investigation into the death of a woman in Co Waterford.

The body of the woman, who is believed to be aged in her 80s, was discovered at a house in a rural area at Ardsallagh near Youghal Bridge yesterday afternoon.

Gardaí have said that a post-mortem examination will be carried out, the results of which will assist them in determining the course of their inquiries.

The local coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified.

A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the woman's family.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses, particularly anyone who was in the Ardsallagh or Youghal Bridge areas in recent days.

Road users with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings from the area, have also been urged to come forward.
