Girl dies in crash between car and van in Co Donegal

A child has died and three people have been injured in a crash between a car and a van in Co Donegal yesterday evening.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident, which took place on the R240 at Glentogher, Carndonagh, shortly after 6.30pm.

A woman driving the car, a man who was the front seat passenger and another girl who was a back seat passenger were all removed from the scene to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry. They all remain in a serious condition.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The road is currently closed for a technical examination by forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have issued an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have footage of the incident to contact them.
