Samsung Galaxy S26 Launch May Slip to March 2026 Due to Development Delays
by Isabella Alexiou · channelnewsSamsung’s Galaxy S26 lineup may face a two-month delay, pushing the launch from the traditional January timeframe to March 2026 due to development and design issues, according to German publication Techmaniacs.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra has reportedly completed its development phase and is ready for production, while the base Galaxy S26 remains behind schedule, contributing to the expected delay.
The Ultra model is positioned as a notable upgrade, featuring a 10-bit display supporting one billion colours, an improvement over the 8-bit screen in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset paired with 12GB RAM.
Battery capacity remains at 5,000mAh, but charging speed increases to 60W, enabling 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes.
The base Galaxy S26 is expected to use Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chipset, a move seen as an effort to strengthen Samsung Semiconductor following recent client losses.
The phone’s design is not yet finalised but is expected to adopt a minimal and refined aesthetic.
Rumours suggest Samsung has cancelled the Galaxy S26 Edge model, leaving the 2026 lineup consisting of the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra variants.
A March launch would break Samsung’s established pattern of unveiling flagship Galaxy S devices in January or early February.
The delay could impact Samsung’s competitive position against rivals including Apple’s iPhone and other Android manufacturers who typically launch flagship devices in the first quarter.
Australian pricing has not been announced.
Samsung has not officially commented on the reported delay or confirmed any changes to its launch schedule.
