Google Integrates Nano Banana AI Editor Into Search, NotebookLM and Photos

by · channelnews

Google is integrating its viral Nano Banana AI image editor into Search, NotebookLM, and Photos following the tool’s successful launch last month.

The most significant integration appears in NotebookLM, where Nano Banana is transforming Video Overviews with six new visual styles including watercolour and anime.

The tool now generates contextual illustrations based on source documents and introduces “Briefs,” a new micro-video format.

Video Overviews automatically generates explainer videos from documents, creating narrated slideshows with visuals.

The AI-powered update begins rolling out to Pro users this week, with availability for all users expected in the coming weeks.

Google Search integration enables new image creation and editing capabilities within the Google app.

Users can request stylised versions of existing images through chat prompts, and photos captured directly from the Lens tool can be edited using AI.

The Search features are now available in English for US customers, with additional countries and languages planned for the near future.

Google has confirmed Nano Banana will arrive in Photos “in the weeks ahead” but has not detailed specific functionality.

Given Nano Banana’s image editing capabilities and Photos’ role as a storage and organisation service, the integration likely involves editing stored images.

The company has promised more information soon on how the AI editor will function within the Photos platform.

Nano Banana became a viral sensation shortly after its October 2025 launch, attracting attention for its AI-powered image editing capabilities.

The rapid integration into multiple Google products demonstrates the company’s strategy to deploy successful AI tools across its ecosystem.

Pricing for NotebookLM Pro and whether the Nano Banana features require paid subscriptions has not been disclosed.
