Yankees get one-hit in brutal Game 1 ALDS loss to Rays

The Rays right-hander no-hit the Yankees for 7 ⅔ innings as a stifled Yankees lineup didn’t muster much of anything in a 1-0 loss in ALDS Game 1 on Saturday.

Jonathan Aranda’s solo home run off Gerrit Cole in the bottom of the third was all Tampa Bay needed to take the series opener.
Austin Wells finally broke through for the Yankees with a two-out double in the top of the eighth, but he inexplicably attempted to run for a triple and was thrown out at third by a wide margin.
Rasmussen struck out 10 and allowed just the one hit and two walks.
Closer Bryan Baker closed things down in the ninth.
Cole went five frames, allowing just the one run with five hits and five strikeouts.
Ryan Weathers, Paul Blackburn and Brent Headrick combined for three hitless innings in relief for the Yankees.
Game 2 is set for Monday at 8 p.m. in Tampa Bay.
