White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting: Letters to the Editor — April 28, 2026
· New York PostThe Issue: A shooting targeting President Trump and officials at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
The near-catastrophic White House Correspondents’ Dinner must serve as a wake-up call to the insulated Washington media and Democrats, who must drop the ongoing inflammatory, hate-driven barrage of derangement syndrome that has served as a catalyst to ignite violent actions by deranged individuals (“Dems’ ‘violent’ rhetoric ripped,” April 27).
Trump has his faults and shortcomings, but nothing justifies this hateful violence that could’ve potentially resulted in the deaths of many high-ranking national leaders and officials, along with the president.

Isn’t it about time left-wing politicians, the media, celebrities and high-profile pundits take responsibility for the rash of murders and assassination attempts? Granted, security measures need to be improved. However, the cause of this irrationality is more important.
The left’s use of terms like fascist, racist and dictator motivates this murderous behavior.
The words of influential high-profile people create a culture. That culture can distort our view of acceptable behavior.

It’s interesting that almost all assassination attempts in recent years have come from the left.
The extreme anti-Trump vitriol of the left is accepted as normal political discourse by the media and by their useful idiots in Congress. This is a sad state of affairs for our country.

I wonder how many Democratic journalists in the WHCD audience reconsidered their bias reporting against defunding law enforcement and demonizing our president in the eyes of the world.
As for the barbed-tongued Democrats who have promoted hate and dissension in our country: When you side with our enemies and conspire with the left-leaning media, you are committing sedition and should be held accountable.

The treasonous attack on the White House Correspondents’ Dinner is an attack on our democracy. Wake up liberals and haters; the president’s plans for this country are unselfishly honest. Stop fighting it and get onboard with MAGA.
Thank you, law enforcement, and thank you, God, for looking over us all.

The terrifying White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting should be a wake-up call to all the journalists who repeatedly call Trump a Nazi, fascist and dictator. They are to blame for another assassination attempt.
Trump is the president, and that title needs to be respected.

I truly hope everyone finally sees what Trump Derangement Syndrome has brought about. Democrats have done a horrible disservice to our country. They have fueled this fire and fanned the flames.
It’s time for us to stand up and fight against the corrupt politicians trying to destroy our country.

This sociopath garnered most of his hate manifestos from the bile-spewing leftist media and politicians. The warfare messaging from Hakeem Jeffries, Gov. JB Pritzker and Gov. Tim Walz, has given certain individuals their cues.
Now that they’re in the cross-hairs of psychopaths, maybe they’ll rethink their hateful ideology.

Although this latest attempt on Trump’s life was particularly reckless, it probably won’t be the last. The media and the left’s rhetoric have created a mindset whereby the elimination of Trump is a worthy goal.
We are at a dangerous juncture in our society.

Here we go again — another attempt on the president’s life. Democratic politicians are daring someone to kill the president and become a hero to those on the left. They need to turn down the volume before they cause a civil war.
