· New York PostUsain Bolt got engaged to longtime girlfriend Kasi Bennett after popping the question at his 40th birthday celebration.
The eight-time Olympic gold medalist got down on one knee at the One Belmont in Kingston, Jamaica, per to local news outlets the Jamaica Observer and The Gleaner.
Bolt turned 40 on Friday.
In photos by the Jamaica Observer and those posted on Instagram from Bennett, Bolt proposed while on the microphone in front of Bennett, whose jaw dropped in shock.
“This about sums up my night,” she wrote in an Instagram story with the photo before adding “my face” with a laughing crying emoji.
After saying yes, the two shared an emotional hug.
Bolt, who was wearing a checkered suit, proposed with a five-carat oval-shaped diamond engagement ring to a stunning Bennett, who wore a gold dress with silver sequin detailing.
Per the outlet, family and friends were present for the proposal.
Bennett went on to post more photos and videos of the night on her Instagram story.
She was seen wiping away tears while around loved ones and posted a video of her dancing while showing off her new ring.
“So many sleepless nights planning UB’s 40th Kasi….little did she know we were also secretly planning the surprise of a lifetime,” Bennett shared the message from a friend, Nikolette Williams, on her Instagram story. “You both deserve all the happiness in the world. UB’s heart is literally gold, and Kasi is the absolute sweetest! I’ll forever be grateful to UB for introducing us years ago, and even more grateful to now call you both family.”
Ahead of the big night on Friday, Bennett shared a carousel of photos on Instagram to celebrate Bolt’s birthday.
She also included a video of him with their three children — daughter Olympia Lightning Bolt, 6, and twin sons Thunder Bolt and Saint Leo Bolt, 5.
“Happy 40th birthday to my person. ❤️ My love, my home, my forever,” she wrote. “You are an incredible dad and truly the centre of our little world. Your legacy is extraordinary, but the man behind it will always be what makes me proudest. So grateful to do this fun life we’ve created with you. I love you endlessly baby. ❤️⚡️”
The couple began dating in 2013 but did not go public with their relationship until the 2016 Rio Olympics — Bolt’s last career Games.
In Rio, he went out with a bang, achieving the historic “triple-triple” — winning gold medals in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4×100-meter relay.
He finished the 100-meter in 9.81 seconds. He still holds the men’s Olympic record (9.63) set in 2012 in London and the overall men’s world record (9.58).
The couple went on to be Instagram official when Bennett shared a photo of them on vacation in Bora Bora in September 2016.
