Beirut, south Lebanon, Bekaa: Images from Israel's wave of violence
Far from the two-week truce announced between the United States and Iran, Israel bombarded Lebanon on Wednesday with unprecedented strikes since the start of the war, leaving "dozens dead and hundreds wounded," according to authorities. The strikes, several of which targeted the heart of Beirut, triggered scenes of panic in the Lebanese capital during rush hour. They also targeted Beirut's southern suburbs, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley. Israel announced it had carried out its "largest coordinated strike" against Hezbollah, specifying that it had conducted 100 strikes in 10 minutes, since the start of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran on Feb. 28. The Lebanese health minister indicated in the evening that, according to a preliminary count, these Israeli strikes killed 89 people, including 12 medical personnel, and wounded 722 in Lebanon. Below are images from the scenes of this outburst of violence.
