Jake Paul has his sights set on a world title showdown with boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez after his win over Mike Tyson.

Paul delivered a stunning performance to claim a unanimous decision victory against Iron Mike. The clash, staged at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, did not live up to the expectations of fans present, resulting in a mass exodus from the venue before the final bell of their eight two-minute round encounter.

Following this success, Paul's impressive professional track record now stands at 11-1, having entered the pro scene a mere four years ago. In that time, he's dispatched several former UFC stars, including Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley.

Despite his suggestions earlier in the year of stepping away from boxing, the 27-year-old has is now actively campaigning for a championship bout against WBA (Super), WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion Canelo.. Ahead of the fight with Tyson, Paul discussed his potential future opponents, stating: "It's Canelo.

"Me vs. Canelo at 200lb for the cruiserweight championship of the world is the biggest fight, arguably even bigger than me vs. Tyson, and it makes so much sense. Canelo is on his way out.

"He's going to want a payday and I want to show the world all the stuff I've been talking about beating Canelo is actually true and I'll have the biggest upset in the history of boxing. We'll fight to really see who is the face because after this event, I'm going to be claiming it."

Canelo, often hailed as one of the greatest boxers globally, boasts an impressive 62-2-2 record, having conquered the light middleweight, middleweight and super middleweight divisions. At 34, the Mexican champion continues to dominate the ring, with victories over renowned fighters such as Gennady Golovkin, Billy Joe Saunders, Amir Khan and Miguel Cotto.

His only losses were dealt by Dmitry Bivol and Floyd Mayweather Jr, while he has drawn against Jorge Juarez and Golovkin. Paul, meanwhile, is also eyeing an MMA debut after his 2022 signing with the PFL. The organisation's CEO, Peter Murray, has expressed eagerness to discuss Paul's inaugural MMA bout in the upcoming weeks.

Murray shared: "I'm not sure if it's going to be his very next fight in combat sports but he will debut in 2025. Look what Jake has proved in boxing; he's an incredible athlete, he's a pro boxer and he's taken on some legit opponents and he has blazed his own trail. He's going to do it the same way in MMA; he's all about being an advocate for athletes and blazing new trails so he's absolutely going to take on MMA and be as focused and dedicated as he is to boxing."

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has been causing a stir in the combat sports arena, rivalling UFC for the title of the premier MMA promotion globally with its high-profile acquisitions such as Paul, Francis Ngannou and Claressa Shields.
