BBC Strictly fans rush to support Wynne Evans as he issues last-minute Blackpool update

by · Wales Online

He was saved by the judges in the dreaded dance-off last weekend when Shayne Ward was sent home but this weekend Wynne Evans is favourite to leave Strictly Come Dancing. Now the Welshman has taken to Instagram to share an update with fans just hours before the live show.

Saturday, November 16 marks a milestone in the 2024 competition as the live show is moved from the BBC studios to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom where Wynne will do the Charleston.

And while the opera star may be favourite for the boot, he's still in good spirits. Wynne posted a photo of himself and professional partner Katya Jones on Instagram on Saturday wearing colourful-rimmed glasses spelling out 'Blackpool'. He said: "The magic of strictly is that a total non dancer of my age shape and size can dance with a three time world champion @katyajones at Blackpool tower ballroom and have the best time ever."

And fans were quick to support him. One said: "Exactly why you’re so super… for a non dancer to go out and dance like that every week…"

A second said: "The very best of luck! Go out on that amazing dance floor and have the most wonderful time." Another added: "You absolutely deserve to be there! Looking forward to your Charleston - have fun."

A fourth commented: "Wynne, you are doing brilliantly, you've got our votes." And: "So glad you’re still in the competition, Wynne. You never fail to entertain me."

It comes after bookies issued the odds on Wynne leaving. Betway spokesperson Mike Reading commented: “We're at the halfway point of the series and as the couples pack their bags and head up to Blackpool, the latest odds suggest Wynne Evans might be waltzing his way out of the competition this Sunday.

“Wynne is the odds-on favourite to go this weekend, but he may find a lifeline in Pete Wicks, who comes next in the elimination odds. Pete will need to dazzle the judges with his Cha Cha to I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred if he wants to stay in the competition!”

Last weekend, Shayne Ward was sent home after landing in the bottom two with Wynne.

However, the judges were split on their decisions, meaning it was down to Shirley Ballas to make the deciding vote - and it didn't go down well with fans.

The head judge decided to save Wynne, meaning Shayne and his dance partner Nancy Xu were sent home.
