ITV Dancing on Ice's Steve Redgrave dealt major blow hours before live show
by Danni King · Wales OnlineThe 2025 season of Dancing On Ice has kicked off, with the second group of celebrities preparing to showcase their ice-skating prowess on Sunday, 18 January, during the second live show.
The inaugural episode featured performances from Ferne McCann, Chris Taylor, Michaela Strachan, Chelsee Healey, Anton Ferdinand and Sam Aston. Michaela emerged as the top performer, scoring an impressive 30 out of 40.
The upcoming episode will see the remaining contestants - Sir Steve Redgrave, Mollie Pearce, Dan Edgar, Charlie Brooks and Josh Jones - take to the ice. The first public vote will also occur, meaning one celebrity's journey on the show will come to an early end.
Speculation about who might clinch the title this year is already rife, with bookmakers releasing odds for each contestant.
Olympian Steve Redgrave appears to be in a precarious position, being the least likely to win according to current odds, which could potentially make him the first to exit the competition, reports the Mirror.
Betway places his odds at a distant 100/1 to win Dancing On Ice 2025. Conversely, Michaela Strachan is currently the favourite, with odds of 3/1 to secure the trophy.
Mollie Pearce and Sam Aston are hot on her heels, both with odds of 4/1. TOWIE's Dan Edgar is pegged at 6/1, Love Island's Chris Taylor at 7/1, and EastEnders' Charlie Brooks at 13/2. Chelsee Healey of Hollyoaks fame has odds of 16/1, followed by Ferne McCann at 25/1, Anton Ferdinand at 33/1, and Josh Jones at 50/1.
Mike Reading, a spokesperson for Betway, shared his thoughts: "The Dancing on Ice launch show delivered spectacular routines and high scores right out of the gate, with Michaela Strachan stealing the spotlight. However, we've only seen half of the celebrities take to the ice so far, and the leaderboard could shift dramatically once the second group performs this Sunday."
He added: "There's plenty of anticipation around stars yet to skate, including The Only Way is Essex's Dan Edgar (6/1) and EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks (13/2). At the other end of the betting, comedian Josh Jones (50/1) and rowing legend Steve Redgrave (100/1) may face a slippery slope if they don't impress in their debut routines. But as we've seen before, one icy tumble can turn the competition on its head!"
Dancing On Ice continues on Sunday 19 January on ITV1 at 6.30pm
