The Argentinian authorities have released details following his devastating death, with reports suggesting that the musician "jumped from the balcony" of his hotel room in Argentina, leading to his fatal fall.

In an official statement given to The Associated Press, police authorities confirmed that the 31-year-old former One Direction star "jumped from the balcony of his room," seemingly dismissing any ideas of an accidental fall or foul play. The shocking event occurred during his holiday in Buenos Aires, where he attended a concert by Niall Horan, his former bandmate.

Forensic experts concluded that "the 25 injuries described in the autopsy are compatible with those caused by a fall from a height."

They further stated that Liam had no "defensive type" injuries and that the wounds on his body were "vital and produced at the same time as each other" thereby ruling out "the intervention of third parties would be ruled out," according to Argentinian outlet La Nacion. A preliminary autopsy suggested that Payne died from "multiple traumas" leading to "internal and external bleeding" as a result of the 40-foot descent from the third floor of the hotel.

Responding to an emergency call made just after 5pm local time, authorities rushed to the scene, having been alerted to an "aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol," reports the Mirror.

Alberto Crescenti, the head of Buenos Aires emergency medical services, revealed the harrowing details surrounding Liam's untimely death due to a tragic accident. He shared that Liam suffered a fatal event immediately following multiple injuries including a serious skull fracture, commenting: "Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life."

He added, citing the severity of the situation: "Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death."

The remaining members of One Direction, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik, expressed their profound sorrow through a heart-wrenching statement: "We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly.
