Thousands of Santander customers unable to access their money

The bank has issued an apology

Thousands of Santander users found themselves unable to access their money on Monday morning. The bank's app crashed, blocking access to online mobile banking.

Some users also reported being unable to log in online. One user wrote on X: "Cheers Santander, I can't access online banking or pay for anything with my card because it's app is down, I'm hoping the cash point is working otherwise I ain't getting to work anytime soon."

A Santander spokesperson said: "We’re very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing, and we are working hard to fix the problem as soon as possible."

Confirming the problem was fixed, they added: “We can confirm that the mobile banking app is now working as usual. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the earlier issue.”
