AI judge disagrees with Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury scorecards after unanimous decision

by · Wales Online

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk 2 saw an experiment involving Artificial Intelligence (AI) judging the highly-anticipated rematch and ruled that the Ukrainian won by unanimous decision.

The three judges ringside at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, all agreed that the defending champion did enough to deny the Gypsy King the chance for redemption. All the judges ruled 116-112 in favour of Usyk, while AI - in place for the very first time described as "ground breaking" although their verdict did not impact the official scorecard - ruled strongly in favour of the 37-year-old.

From the offset, Fury took control of the ring, showing more determination than in their previous bout. However, by the second round, he found himself being pursued around the ring by Usyk – a recurring theme from their first fight.

As the match reached its midpoint, it was neck and neck, with Fury rocking the Ukrainian with a short left uppercut and asserting his size and strength in the fifth round. In a remarkable display of resilience, Usyk fought back in the sixth round, landing several punches on Fury, and continued to dominate through the seventh and eighth rounds. Post the eighth, Fury's trainer Sugarhill Steward called for a more assertive approach, advising him not to be pushed back.

Fury enjoyed a stronger ninth round, putting him ahead on the scorecards of TNT Sport's Richie Woodall and Carl Frampton, who were commentating from Saudi Arabia. When the final bell rang, Fury gestured his victory belief while Usyk knelt prayerfully, only for Fury to walk over and plant a kiss on his head.

But it was Usyk who emerged triumphant, unanimously outscoring Fury 116-112 across all judges' cards. Furthermore, AI, under the direction of Turki Alalshikh, presented an even wider margin, scoring the fight 118-112 in favour of Usyk.
