ITV This Morning fans fume as Cat Deeley drops huge show spoiler
by Kelly Smith · Wales OnlineThis Morning viewers expressed their disappointment with Cat Deeley after she revealed some pivotal moments of a Disney+ programme that many had eagerly anticipated watching.
In the episode aired on Wednesday, Dermot O'Leary was alongside Cat, who was filling in for the usual co-host Ben Shephard. The duo interviewed Billy and Susan Mail, stars of a new Disney+ series.
The series delves into the unique bond shared between Billy and Molly, an orphaned otter he took under his wing. Their relationship became the focus of a touching National Geographic documentary.
However, Cat went on to share crucial plot points on-air after having watched the series with her children in preparation for the interview - and viewers weren't happy about it, reports the Mirror.
Displeased audiences were quick to take to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their annoyance. As reported by the Mirror, one miffed viewer lamented: "So Cat's spoilt then #thismorning."
Some viewers griped about the spoilers: "Thanks for the spoiler, Cat. Tell the whole story of the otter.....#ThisMorning," while another complained, "THANKS CAT..just spoiled the whole story for everyone ffs! ! #thismorning." (aic)
Another humorously commented: "Things Cat didn't do last night number 1 #ThisMorning."
While some were frustrated, others were captivated by the heartwarming narrative of the otter friendship set against Shetland's picturesque scenery, with one admirer even considering a life change: "Googling 'moving to Shetland' as we speak #ThisMorning."
A viewer commented, "It looks incredibly peaceful there; I'm ever so slightly jealous."
Cat disclosed she had already viewed the series on Disney+ ahead of its inaugural airing on the National Geographic channel and let slip a few details.
She conveyed her sons' delight to Dermot, revealing: "My boys were like, 'he's made her a ball pit, it's amazing'," and further unveiled, "And, she also meets a boy otter called Bozzo, and also has a baby," leaving fans astonished.
Billy reminisced about his first meeting with Molly, observing her eating a crab without fleeing when he came closer. In discussion with Cat and Ben, he recalled: "Curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to see how close I could get."
He realised something was amiss when Molly did not escape and remembered recent news of another female otter's death in the area. Describing the encounter, he said: "She stopped eating, looked me right in the eye, and then went back to it.
"I thought 'that's not right, a wild otter should've run away at that point'," noting that "She was really thin and emaciated, but she wasn't unhealthy - she was just hungry."
Billy consulted a local wildlife sanctuary, which advised him that it was acceptable to feed the creature as long as he didn't attempt to domesticate her. From then on, he began leaving salmon in a box for her, and their relationship developed into something truly remarkable.
This Morning airs on ITV1, from 10am, weekdays.
