Jake Paul's astonishing net worth, feud with famous brother and hotel fight with One Direction star
by John Jones · Wales OnlineYouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has a chance to earn the biggest win of his boxing career when he takes on legendary heavyweight fighter Mike Tyson in Texas on Friday night.
The 27-year-old influencer will go head-to-head with the boxing great over eight rounds in a postponed but hotly anticipated bout. It had been initially scheduled to go ahead this summer, but was pushed back on medical advice after Tyson fell ill on a flight due to an ulcer flare-up.
Paul, of course, has the clear advantage of being over 30 years younger than his 58-year-old opponent, but is up against one of the most formidable fighters of all time, who has impressed fans with his ferocious training sessions leading up to the fight.
Whatever happens, former Disney Channel star Paul knows how to draw a crowd and has lived up to his nickname of 'The Problem Child' since making his professional boxing debut in 2020, when he defeated YouTuber AnEsonGib.
A divisive figure, he has since gone on to face and beat former basketball player Nate Robinson, former MMA fighters including Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz and professional boxers Andre August and Ryan Bourland. However, he was beaten for the first time as a professional last year, as former Love Island star Tommy Fury defeated him by split decision in a huge fight in Saudi Arabia.
Here's what you need to know about the man himself, from his colossal net worth to his feud with his famous brother.
Astonishing net worth
Paul is estimated to have a colossal net worth of around $80 million (£62 million),
Much of this staggering amount has come through his years as a popular YouTuber and influencer, as well as an actor on the Disney Channel. His other ventures include launching his own media company, venture capital fund and men's skin care brand, while he has also bolstered his net worth in the boxing ring in recent years.
He reportedly took home more than £6 million for fighting former Love Island star Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia last year, when he suffered the first defeat of his professional career by split decision.
Incredibly, the YouTuber - who has over 20 million subscribers on the platform - has boasted that he is set to make an incredible $40 million (£31 million) from fighting Tyson.
Earlier this year, he said: "I didn't bring [Tyson] to do s***; I'm here to make $40million and knock out a legend. I don't give a f*** about anything else, he's the one who wanted it to be a pro fight and he's going to get his a** knocked out for real.
"You're going to see on his record; Jake Paul KOs Mike Tyson; I'm not here to do s**t except make a bag," Paul added. "Every time fighters sit across from me and it's 'YouTuber this and Disney kid that' and they end up on the canvas… this is going to be no different.'
Paul has also disclosed that his contract includes "bonuses" that could inflate both his and Tyson's take-home pay.
"There are definitely certain guaranteed figures and other certain built-in bonuses and stuff on top of sales key performance indicators that trigger certain things," he explained. "This is definitely my biggest payday, of all the fights for sure. It is definitely a healthy payday."

Feud with famous brother
Paul is not the only famous face in his family, with his older brother Logan boasting an even bigger following on YouTube as well as a successful career in business and professional wrestling.
In fact, Jake made his boxing debut on the undercard of Logan's white-collar fight with KSI back in 2018, fighting the British YouTuber's brother Deji. Since then, Logan has gone on to face KSI in the ring for a second time, as well as former five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and MMA fighter Dillon Danis.
Today, Logan is the co-founder of drink company Prime alongside KSI, while he was signed to WWE as a wrestler in June 2022.
The brothers have forged similar paths, coming from a background of acting and YouTube fame to competing in boxing and wrestling. However, they have often feuded over a series of issues, with Jake claiming his brother's behaviour towards them had left their relationship at "breaking point"
Logan has previously teamed up with some of Jake's fiercest rivals, including KSI and UFC boss Dana White, while the younger brother accused hs sibling of not suporting him in his ventures.
"I look bad because of how he is acting so it looks like I'm arguing with him," he explained "But really, I'm more so just setting his ego in line. And this is just me being honest because I feel like I've held it in for so many years. I'm kinda just speaking my minds more so now."
Asked if he was reaching Breaking Point, he responded: "I think I'm there. In the documentary [Problem Child on Netflix ] he was so condescending and undermining me the whole entire time."
Fight with One Direction star
In February 2020, Paul was involved in an altercation with former One Direction member Zayn Malik at a hotel in Las Vegas.
The two men were reported to have interacted in the early hours of the morning, with Paul taking issue with what he believed to be a rude tone by the British singer.
The YouTuber then took to Twitter to criticise Malik, claiming the singer had "started yelling and freaking the f*** out" at him. He added: "Almost had to clap up zane from 1 direction (sic) because he is a little guy and has an attitude and basically told me to f*** off for no reason when I was being nice to him. Stop being angry cause u came home alone to ur big ass hotel room hahaha."
Paul then got into an online spat with Malik's then-girlfriend Gigi Hadid, but later deleted his tweets and claimed he had been drunk when he had posted them. "Someone needs to take my phone when i'm drunk because I'm a f***ing idiot," he later wrote.
Sharing footage from that night on his podcast, Jake's brother Logan explained further what had happened and claimed his sibling was the one in the wrong.
“During a night in Vegas, Jake attempted to hang out or talk to Zayn and apparently Zayn wasn’t too nice to him," he said. So that upset Jake. I was with Jake that night. We split up, that’s when he ran into Zayn.
"I went back to his hotel room at 3 a.m. and he goes, ‘Bro, I ran into Zayn from One Direction and he wasn’t that nice to me. I asked him to hang out and he kind of just shrugged me off and I think the conversation upset Zayn," Logan added. "I do think [Jake’s] in the wrong here.”
