Elden Ring’s biggest mod is now available in Dark Souls 3, and it revamps co-op
After making Elden Ring's most popular mod, its creator has finally dropped Dark Souls 3 Seamless Co-op, which vastly improves online play.
by Will Nelson · PCGamesNElden Ring Nightreign might be a major revamp of FromSofware’s soulslike multiplayer experience, but it’s actually a careful evolution of a system the studio has been refining for years. From Demon’s Souls to Bloodborne, the developer has always pushed the envelope with co-op experiences; the iconic summoning and messaging systems still feel like a novel concept all these years later. That said, constantly having to rejoin friends after defeating bosses or dying quickly becomes frustrating. One modder remedied that issue in Elden Ring, and now they’ve done it again for Dark Souls 3.
Modder ‘Yui’ has finally released Dark Souls 3 Seamless Co-op, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Instead of restricting players by ending multiplayer sessions when bosses are defeated or someone dies, your co-op game will soldier on. This means you can keep playing no matter what, but Yui isn’t done there.
All fog walls that restrict multiplayer zones are gone, NPC dialogue and talking events are synchronized, and resting at a bonfire resets the world state for all players. You can even play with up to five others, becoming a persistent wrecking ball that’ll always bounce back.
If you love a challenge, though, don’t worry, Yui has thought of that too. You can customize difficulty scaling to your preferences, so DS3 won’t suddenly be far too easy, unless you want it to be.
This isn’t Yui’s first experience with seamless co-op, either, as they previously added it to Elden Ring. That creation is easily the biggest for the game on Nexus Mods, with well over eight million downloads since it launched in 2022.
Yui’s Dark Souls 3 Seamless Co-op mod is available right now, but the creator warns that it’s currently in alpha so you’re likely to experience bugs. You can download it right here.
