A member of An Garda Síochána (AGS) based in County Kildare has issued advice to homeowners following a theft incident which occurred in a housing estate.

Garda Ann-Marie Reilly of Naas Garda Station detailed the incident when she appeared on a KFM radio programme yesterday (July 1 last).

She told host Eoin Beatty that a resident of Carton Grove in Maynooth had posted an advertisement online showing a laptop up for sale, and added that the injured party had listed their address in the ad.

Gda Reilly went on to explain that two males called up to their address. When they asked to see the laptop, and were subsequently shown it, they proceeded to grab the laptop and fled the scene without payment.

She urged anyone with information about this crime to contact Leixlip Garda Station on 01 666 7800.

In addition, she advised anyone who is advertising the sale of goods online to refrain from posting their online address.

Instead, Gda Reilly suggested, it would be better to meet in a public place.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about the incident, a spokesperson for AGS said: "Gardaí received report of a theft that occurred at a residence on Leixlip Road in Kildare town at approximately 8:50pm on June 27, 2025."

They added that "investigations are ongoing" at present.
