Tottenham agrees to $166M deal for Manchester City's Savinho

Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Tottenham Hotspur reached a $166 million agreement with Manchester City to acquire Brazilian winger Savinho.

Sources told The Athletic, Sky Sports and ESPN about the move Friday. Savinho is set to undergo a physical Friday afternoon to finalize the transaction.

Spurs agreed to pay an initial fee of $102.3 million, with another $13.6 million available through bonuses.

The 22-year-old winger joined the Sky Blues in 2024. He totaled a goal and assist over 24 Premier League appearances in 2025-26. He logged seven goals and 13 assists over 84 total appearances for the English Premier League club.

Savinho started his career at Brazil's Atletico Mineiro. He also played on loan at Dutch club PSV and Girona of Spain's La Liga. He reached career-highs with nine goals and 10 assists over 37 appearances for Girona during the 2023-24 La Liga campaign.

Spurs was 10-17-11 during the 2025-26 campaign, narrowly avoiding relegation with a 17th place finish for the second consecutive season. It will start its 2026-27 season against Brentford at 12:30 p.m. EDT Saturday in Brentford.

The Sky Blues, who finished runners-up to champions Arsenal last season, will host Bournemouth in their season opener at 9 a.m. Sunday in Manchester.
