Strictly Come Dancing star addresses 'curse' as he opens up about relationship with pro
by Matt Jackson, https://www.facebook.com/MattjJourno · Birmingham LiveStrictly Come Dancing star Jamie Borthwick has addressed the show’s infamous “curse” by opening up about his relationship with professional dancer Michelle Tsiakkas.
Jamie, 30, is taking part in the 20th series of Strictly Come Dancing after winning the Christmas special in 2023. He is juggling the show alongside his day job at EastEnders, which he joined in 2006.
And while Jamie and Michelle have been impressing fans with their chemistry on the dancefloor, he says there is no risk of them falling for the so-called “curse”. The so-called curse has seen seen numerous stars from previous shows coupling up with the dancers in real life.

This series however, Jamie says there have been no signs of any romances blossoming between the famous faces or their professional partners. Speaking to Closer magazine, he said: “But with the old Strictly curse, you definitely ain’t got no worries with Michelle.
“She’s like a sister, mum and auntie all rolled into one. We’ve got sibling chemistry.”
Jamie says he has taken Michelle to Albert Square and is keen to show her around the rest of the sets. He even wants to get her to film a scene as his long-lost sister.
Jamie and Michelle aren’t the only pairing in this series to have faced possible romance rumours. Pete Wicks was asked about his relationship with professional Jowita Przystal when he appeared on This Morning.
Asked by Alison Hammond on ITV ’s This Morning if he is in a “love bubble” with Jowita, 30, Pete said: “It’s not a love bubble, unfortunately. We have great chemistry because we’ve become such good friends.
“She’s one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met, genuinely, not just in the dancing side of things, but outside of that. And I think that helps us with the whole dancing thing.”
Strictly Come Dancing will return to screens at 6.35pm on BBC One on Saturday.
