Man dies after falling from M5 motorway bridge

A man has died after falling from a bridge on the M5. Gloucestershire Police were called following a report that a body had been found on the northbound carriageway near to junction 9 for Tewkesbury, just after 6am on Saturday (Nov 2).

It is believed that a man, said to in his 30s, fell from an over bridge onto the carriageway. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his death is deemed to be non-suspicious.

Gloucestershire Police said the victim's next of kin are aware and being supported by specially trained officers. Officers are asking anyone who was travelling along the M5 at around 6am and has any information or footage to contact them.

The motorway has been closed in both directions since the tragic discovery and drivers are being asked to avoid the area and seek other routes.
