Nick Knowles, 62, the well-liked presenter and favourite of telly viewers, was suddenly unable to participate in the live Saturday (October 5) episode of Strictly Come Dancing. The unexpected withdrawal came as a result of an injury Nick sustained.

Slated to showcase the Charleston with professional dance partner Luba Mushtuk to the tune of 'Rain On The Roof' from 'Paddington 2' during Movie Week on the show, the DIY SOS host was already managing a shoulder injury, which occurred shortly after the series' initial live broadcast. However, this latest mishap occurred during a Friday (October 4) dress rehearsal, leading to a knee injury severe enough that Nick now needs crutches for mobility.

As Saturday night's episode aired, presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman didn't waste time updating viewers about the situation. Tess explained: "As you can see, Nick Knowles and his partner Luba are not here. In rehearsals yesterday, Nick sustained an injury and is not able to perform tonight."

Claudia added further information regarding the competition's regulations: "As per rules of the competition, he will receive a bye into next week's show. Nick we are sending you love and wishing you a speedy recovery."

Prior to the weekend show, Nick himself provided insights into his predicament in a personalised video message, shared exclusively on Strictly's companion show, 'It Takes Two', hosted by Janette Manara. Speaking directly to fans, Nick relayed: "So during our first dress rehearsal today, our run-through of the dance number on the stage, unfortunately, I damaged my knee and it's quite painful.", reports the Mirror.

"So the physios have decided that I need to go for an MRI."

Luba then said: "Yeah, so unfortunately we'll not be dancing tomorrow but we really really hope that the knee will be better for the next week and yeah, we'll be back on the dance floor."

A source also told The Sun about Nick's second misfortune: "It is such a devastating blow for him and he is being supported by the Strictly team. They are sending him for scans and are doing everything they can to make sure he is okay."

The insider continued with the details of his brave battle against his initial injury, stating: "Nick had to fight to make sure he could take part in the first live show after hurting his arm and shoulder and he did so well. This new injury has been a real blow and he is incredibly upset about it."

On Instagram, Nick himself shared with fans the beginning of his injury woes: "As you can see my arm is in a sling and that's because my car broke down at the side of the motorway. I had my little boy in the car, so I wanted to change the tyre as quickly as possible."

He went on detailing the incident that led to his harm: "In the process of hurrying to get the wheel off, I managed to damage my shoulder and arm a little. I'm not sure how, but it's been quite painful."
