Twelve-year-old stabbed on Birmingham street in attack horror

A boy of just 12 was stabbed on a Birmingham street in broad daylight today, Tuesday, January 21. He was attacked in Hall Green at around school finishing time.

He was knifed near Scribers Lane at around 3.15pm and he was taken to hospital. His condition was not known. The attacker had not yet been caught, with West Midlands Police launching a witness appeal tonight.

The force said it was looking for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything that could help trace the offender. Officers were "urgently reviewing CCTV" and speaking to witnesses.

West Midlands Police set up a major incident portal where witnesses can submit information. In the appeal, a spokesperson said: "We're appealing for information after a 12-year-old boy was stabbed in Birmingham.

"The boy was attacked near Scribers Lane in Hall Green at around 3.15pm. He has since been taken to hospital. We are looking for anyone who was in the area and saw anything to get in touch."

Det Insp Joe Davenport, from the Major Crime Unit, said: "We’re urgently reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses as we work to understand what happened and why, and who was responsible.

"If you were in the area at the time and saw what happened, or think you may have captured any part of what happened on dashcam or mobile phone, it’s vital you get in touch with as soon as possible.”
