Strictly Come Dancing's Oti Mabuse has opened about her first year of being a mum, and admitted why she wishes she'd had her daughter years earlier.

Appearing on Paul C. Brunson's podcast, We Need To Talk, with her husband, Marius Iepure, the 34-year-old opened up about all aspects of her life including her relationship and the birth of their daughter, who the pair welcomed into the world last Christmas.

When asked what she would have done differently if she could go back and re-live her career, Oti said: "I would have split my focus between things that really matter and things that are just a job. I would have had my daughter earlier, because now I'm like, I'm not old, I'm just 34, but I'm like I wish I had more time, I wish I had done this earlier."

Her husband, Marius, disagreed however, saying that he thought it was 'the perfect time' to have their daughter, but did also admit that he would have wanted her earlier as well.

Oti added: "Because I work in television, and it is so easy for that whole career to be swept under your feet, everything can go. But, the best thing right now I think for a lot of people to do, is invest in yourself. Instead of buying that bag, buy a book and read Diary of a CEO, instead of going out and partying, take that little bit of money and invest it towards the mortgage and take the time to listen."

Oti and her husband Marius announced the birth of their baby daughter on Christmas Day last year. The tot was was born six weeks before her due date.

Aside from her premature birth, matters were made worse after Oti was diagnosed with sepsis prior to her daughter's birth, resulting in the Strictly star's newborn having to spend six weeks in hospital after developing an infection.

To this day, Oti remains one of the most successful professional dancers on Strictly, as she became only the second person in the shows history to retain back to back wins having picked up the top prize in 2019 and 2020 whilst dancing with Kelvin Fletcher and Bill Bailey. Since leaving the BBC show in 2022, Oti went on to become a judge on Dancing on Ice in the same year.
