Fans of EastEnders were shocked to hear a show legend's real accent, with many saying they 'couldn't believe' how different she sounded. Angela Wynter first appeared on the BBC soap in 2003 - but a recent video has left them thinking 'what an actress'.

The 66-year-old has enjoyed two stints in the soap as bubbly B&B owner Yolande Trueman. She took a break in 2008, when her character left for Birmingham, but returned to Albert Square 15 years later and rekindled her romance with Patrick, portrayed by Rudolph Walker.

Angela has also appeared in the likes of Call The Midwife and Death In Paradise and the smash hit Christmas movie Last Christmas, written by Emma Thompson. She also bagged a role on the Birmingham-based soap, Doctors, in 2022.

But a video of her at an awards bash, which was recently shared to X, left fans stunned. As she answered questions about her time on the soap, social media users voiced their surprise over her real accent, the Mirror reports.

One said: “Obsessed with her real voice. She sounds so young compared to Yolande.” A second wrote: “I was today years old when I found out that the actress doesn’t have an accent like Yolande.”

A third proclaimed: “I can't believe how different she sounds!” A similar comment read: “Omg I can’t believe that’s her. She is so different to her character. What an actress!"
