Erling Haaland signs new Man City contract until 2034 with release clause decision made

by · Birmingham Live

Erling Haaland has penned an extraordinary nine-and-a-half year contract that will see him remain at the Etihad Stadium until summer 2034. The Norwegian striker, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, was initially set to see his original deal expire at the end of the 2026/2027 season.

However, he's now signed a lucrative new deal that will keep him at the Etihad until he's 34. Since his arrival, Haaland has proven himself as one of Europe's top strikers, netting an impressive 111 goals in 126 games and helping City lift two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, the Champions League and a Super Cup.

Despite a challenging campaign for both City and Haaland, the top-flight giants have secured his long-term future. The 24 year old has been frequently linked with a move to Real Madrid since his time at Dortmund.

However, if the La Liga leaders still wish to secure his services, they'll have to work hard for it. As reported by The Athletic, Haaland's new deal has seen the release clause in his current contract removed.

While the exact figures are yet to be disclosed, his new deal is believed to be among the most lucrative sporting contracts ever. Despite exit rumours, Haaland is reportedly extremely content living in Manchester, reports the Mirror.

Haaland is reportedly thriving at Manchester City, enjoying a strong rapport with Guardiola, the coaching staff, his fellow players and the club's top brass. He's also said to have settled well in the local area after moving house and embracing parenthood.
