Teen arrested on suspicion of murder after schoolboy stabbed to death in Hall Green

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 12-year-old schoolboy was fatally stabbed in Birmingham. The victim was found injured near Scribers Lane, Hall Green, at around 3pm yesterday, Tuesday, January 21.

He was rushed to hospital but, sadly, died from his injuries. Police said his next of kin had been informed and were being looked after by specialist officers.

Detectives arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of murder following the schoolboy's death. Officers were also "urgently reviewing CCTV" and speaking to witnesses to find out exactly what led to this tragedy.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "A boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing in Birmingham. The boy, 14, was arrested after a 12-year-old boy was found with serious injuries near Scribers Lane, Hall Green, shortly after 3pm (21 January).

"The 12-year-old was taken to hospital, but sadly died as a result of his injuries. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

"We are continuing to appeal for any information which could help in our investigation. We have set up our Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) where members of the public can submit photos or video evidence."
