Woman taken to hospital after car smashes into Bearwood Iceland store

A woman was taken to hospital after a car ploughed into an Iceland store. The vehicle smashed through the front of the Bearwood supermarket on Monday evening (November 25).

Emergency services were called to Bearwood Road at around 7.50pm. The busy route was cordoned off by police as crowds gathered nearby.

Medics treated the woman at the scene before taking her to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Bearwood Road in Smethwick just after 7.50pm. Two ambulances were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a car had come off the road and collided with a building.

"The driver, a woman, was treated by ambulance staff for injuries not believed to be serious and conveyed to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital for further treatment.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were called after a car hit a building in Bearwood Road at around 7.50pm yesterday (November 25). One person was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening."
